The Restaurant at Russells

Come and discover the restaurant at Russells where you will receive a warm welcome and friendly, attentive table service.

The simple décor complements the traditional features - log burning fire, deep leather sofas and contemporary oak furniture with a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

When the sun shines, enjoy a glass of wine with lunch on our covered verandah overlooking the gardens.

top chefs

We have a team of busy chefs and patissiers creating a tempting menu which changes on a regular basis, they use seasonal produce of the highest quality delivered daily by small independent local suppliers - organic and free range wherever possible.

wine list

A relatively short but punchy wine list mingles well with the menu

passion for coffee

All staff are barista trained on our beautiful red gaggia espresso machine, using the best fresh ground illy coffee beans so you can be confident your cappuccino or Latte will be just perfect

menu

Breakfast from 9am

Morning coffee with freshly baked scones

Delicious lunches and yummy puddings

Afternoon tea with a mouth watering selection of our own homemade cakes

Our suppliers

We use the best quality ingredients that we are able to source, making ethical choices, we only use free range eggs in our recipes(some from our own free range hens) We only use fish caught using sustainable methods.

Most of our suppliers are small scale local family businesses

We have daily deliveries from our local village butcher, baker, greengrocer and fishmonger.

Our mineral water is filtered through the South downs and is drawn at source just a few miles away in Southbourne .

The delicious apple juice we serve is from a local family business who pick their apples from their own orchard and press them into juice on their farm (a lot of apple juice producers buy in apples from abroad)

Our chefs use Sussex Gold rapeseed oil in our salad dressings, this family business carry out the entire process of growing, cold pressing and bottling the Oils on their farm, this highly versatile oil is perfect for all cooking uses and it offers a healthier choice. It has half the saturated fat of olive oil, contains omega-3, -6 and -9 oils, and is a source of natural vitamin E. It contains no artificial preservatives.

Montezumas chocolate factory is at the end of our road, which gives us the perfect excuse to use lots of pure dark organic luxury chocolate in our cakes and desserts

Our kitchen garden here at Russells provides our chefs with seasonal fruit, vegetables and fresh herbs.

celebrity opening

Things have changed since February 2004 when Alan Titchmarsh kindly spent the day with us and officially opened our 70 seat restaurant, we now have more seating inside and have added another 30 on our covered verandah overlooking the gardens, our menu has evolved, our customer base has grown and many visit so regularly they have become our friends!

"This is a really modern garden centre, with a fantastic selection of garden furniture and interestingly house furniture. We have bought many items and have not been dissappointed"

"This is a rather late, but nevertheless heartfelt, thank you. I came down to the area for a holiday the week before Easter and, as I drove towards the seaside, remembered I had visited the nursery before and spent time looking at your coastal bits and bobs. I decided to stop off for lunch. You were really busy and at first I thought it wouldn’t be possible, but the lady had a friendly and positive attitude and soon found me a magic spot on the sofa by the open fire. I had the most fabulous Welsh rarebit whilst surrounded by many others enjoying delicious your fare. A little piece of heaven - thank you! "

"Visited while passing through last weekend. Beautiful furniture and furnishings - only wish I lived closer, coming from Buckinghamshire! Certainly will be visiting again soon. Unfortunately didn't have time to sample the restaurant which looks fab."

"Visited local friends last week over halfterm with two kiddies aged 5 and 3. Had the best bacon sandwich I've ever tasted and enjoyed my children eating the most beautiful fresh brunch, including the welsh rarebit with big juicy tomatoes which was amazing."
